Hello, As the title suggests, I'm looking for Degu's in Lancashire (Preston area but can travel a reasonable distance). I've never had Degu's before before, but I work in a vets so very experienced with animals!! I wouldn't need a cage, as we have a spare one at work, and I just love the idea of adopting rather than buying from a breeder. I don't mind how old or what sex the Degu's are, and even if they have health problems that's fine I work in a vets ideally looking for 2 to start with, but could possibly take on more If anyone needs a loving home for their Degu's please get in touch!

Welcome to the forum! I live in Preston too, just rehomed 4 baby degus with amie off this site! I know there are a lot of babies in the P@H on the docks that need rehoming (or there was not too long ago) I hope you find what you're looking for and good luck with your search!

I have two male degus for adoption. They are rescues, two years old and have health problems (well the one does). One of them has cataracts and very little vision left, if any. I'm in Birmingham (I drove up to Preston to 'steal' babies of Philbailey and I think it took us about a couple of hours). If you could get the majority of the way to Birmingham, I could meet you somewhere and save you a little bit of the drive? I have nine degus of my own and I've just recently taken on these boys. They are lovely! Here's a link to some pictures of them deguworld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=world&action=display&thread=8614

The P@H adoption centre by the docks has some degus that need a loving owner. There's a single girl and boy. Could always keep them in a divided cage until the male is old enough to be neutered. Not many people would take on a job like that but you said you work at a vets so thought it was worth repeating like phil mentioned.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the replies, amie I'd love to adopt yours but I think Birmingham is a bit far thanks anyway, and I hope you find a home for them! Will check at P@H on the docks, wouldn't be a problem neutering them and I'd quite like a boy and a girl so excited to be part of the Degu community! Will keep everyone updated!

a boy and a girl is a good choice if you adopt the ones that are at the docks! but don't forget, a boy degu (it is said, I don't know the reason or the referance) maybe someone does??? needs to be 1 year old before he is casrated.

Hi, I have 3 female degus (mother and 2 daughters) approx 1 year old. I am looking to re home them, as i can't give them the full attention they need all the time and i am also moving to a smaller house. I have a very large cage with plenty of shelving, John Hopewell wheel and plenty of accessories, of which i am prepared to give away free of charge to anyone who can give my degus a good home I am in Clitheroe, Lancashire

hi degudave, thanks for your reply. I'd love to give your degu's a new home, just need to double check with my OH as now he's said I can only have 2 love the idea of taking on a mum and 2 babies though, and I can assure you I'd give them such a lovely home! How big is your cage? We live in a 2 bedroom house and have a spare bedroom with lots of space, so it's not too much of an issue, but if possible can I please have the measurements? So excited about the possibility of rehoming some degu's, please pm me if you'd like my number or email address, otherwise just post in this thread and I'll be sure to check! Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Nicky, the cage is an Aurora 600, not sure of exact size, but i think you can google it and get a picture/sizes. It is a tall cage with 4 levels of shelving and pull out metal tray and metal feeding dishes. Thanks Degudave
