I just made an emergency appointment for my Degu Azure. She's at least three years old and, when I got her from the local Animal Shelter a couple of weeks ago, her tail was balding and she had a lump on it. Since then, I have found the odd spot of blood in the cage (she shares it with three of her sisters) and I think it might be coming from her because on Sunday I spotted blood on one of her feet, but no injury on the foot. Yesterday I made a regular appointment for her to see a vet with exotic experience but just now I noticed that she has fluid coming from around her mouth area. I took a swab to it and the fluid is yellowish/greenish. So, I called the vet back and have an emergency appointment for her first thing tomorrow morning.
Does anyone one have any idea what this may be?!!!!

Not able to comment on the fluid other than it sounds like an infection of some sort, hopefully someone else with more expertise may be able to help more. As for the lump on her tail, could it maybe just an old injury, or maybe one that has become infected? You are certainly doing the best you can by getting her to a vet asap. Wishing you all the best and sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for all of your comments. I ended up taking her to the vet the next day. He diagnosed her as having a bladder infection and prescribed Baytril for two weeks. She's fine now; no more blood in the cage. As far as the "green goop" around her mouth, he just thought she may have been over-grooming the area because of the infection. The green was probably not an infection because he checked her mouth and all over, and said that she looks in tiptop health (other than the bladder infection). Thanks for you help.
