Ok, there is lots of conversations on here about food but can anyone offer a definitive guide to the best options for Goos ?
Weve always used the P@H Degu Nuggets and Timothy hay.. Our Goos have no interest in fresh veg though they love the sugar free yoghurt drops from P@H and also the occasional Monkey Nut.
Lots of people seem to suggest Gerty Guinea Pig food ? Good Option ? On it's own or mixed with pellets ?
How about the Xitrovol stuff ? We had some and they loved it but worried as it had Locus Beans in there...
Maybe we should have a food Sticky ?
Cheers R

If your goos are happy with the nuggets (and eat lots of hay) I would leave it at that. The problem with Xtravital and Gerty Guinea is that if they are very selective, their diet may become unbalanced.
Did you try flowers and leaves (e.g. dandelion, daisies) or herbs (e.g. basil, parlsey, thyme). They may take to that more easily than veg. Mine were very reluctant at the beginning but now they can't get enough.

I also highly recommend the dried flowers and leaves. P@H do a good dandelion leaves and flowers mix, along with a blackberry/blackcurrant(black something or other) leaves with apple twigs. Also zooplus sell some excellent bag mixes - they've got mountain and meadow flowers, various flowers on their own, dried parsely, dried dandelion roots (mine go crazy over this). Chinchilla2shop also sell bags of dried flowers, both as a mix and individually.
The dried flowers and leaves complement their diet nicely, also it's what they would get in the wild, plus they love it. Oh, and for something different to see - try fresh rose petals. My goos go crazy over them and it's good for them. Only problem is obtaining them. Don't get them from front gardens that has traffic going down the road, or from florists as they'll be sprayed.

Giving a mix seems to be getting more popular, it's what I do. You need to give some consideration to your feeding philosophy though, it's OK to give unlimited nuggets because they are all the same, but you might need to consider feeding a certain weight of a mixed feed per day so that they can't just eat the bits they like.
