Hello everyone. I need some advice on what this could possibly be. My little degu Roger has a lump on his neck/ cheek and it is oozing puss. I'm going to take him to the vet tomorrow, but I'm just really scared and want to know if anyone else has had this problem. It doesn't seem to be causing him any pain, he's running around like normal and he is such a little trooper when I was cleaning it, he wriggled a bit but not once did he try and bite or anything. I don't know how old he is because we got him from a rescue centre (they said he was a year old, but i seriously think he's alot older, but i could be wrong). If anyone knows anything I can do before i take him to the vet to help him please please please let me know
Thank you xxx

Hope he's gonna be ok, poor little guy. Does he have cagemates? Perhaps it's a bite that's gotten a bit nasty? If you've cleaned it that's good, a little salt in the water does wonders when you bathe it. It's got an antiseptic property. The main thing is you're getting him to the vets which is best. X

It sounds like an abscess but I cannot really advise with anything as I am not experienced in that sort of thing. I know dental abscesses are hard to cure but that one sounds like it's in the skin so hopefully it can be treat with antibiotics.

Hello everyone and thank you for all the comments and advice. I've taken Roger to the vet and GOOD NEWS. It looks like it's an old scab from when he was first introduced to Drumstick. Because of where it is its in an awkward position and because all his fur is in the way it feels like a bigger lump than it actually is, it's just a very thick scab (yes i know sounds lovely). So the vet said I should give it a clean now and then over the next few days and it should go away on its own, but if not I've to go back and get some antibiotics.
Thanks again everyone you've all been really kind and helpful, it is much appreciated xxx
