I was curious to see if this happened to anybody else. Nutmeg woke me up at 3:15 this morning with a really loud, repeated alarm squeek. Bless her she look petrified. I picked her up and calmed her down, which was a miracle in itself. She's a very loving degu but still young so never sits still or likes to be petted. But this morning she just lay flat on my hand doing little squeeks until she calmed down.
I had a look around the room but I couldn't see anything that was out of the ordinary that could have scared her. And to have heard her from upstairs through a closed door she was loud!

Yes some of mine do that aswell, and sometimes they start each other off!! I think theyre dreaming and then something bad happens in their dream so they get scared. Bless them. Atleast a cuddle calms them down, aye. xx

2 days in a row Buffy has given us an alarm call at 6:30am and won't stop until someone has gone in and spoken to her, then flushed the loo.

They're in the lounge on their own at night, she only goes quiet when she's had a bit of fuss.
It's only been the last two mornings and they enjoy their playtime out and climb all over us if we're lying down or sat up. Willow does occasionally lick my nostril (strange creature) and they both nibble hands, ears, hair, etc... They were rescues so don't liking being touched much in return at the moment.

you mean mine woodchip is my partner, buffy was doing the normal wittering noises every time I was going in and out of the room and going on my hand as soon as I opened the cage today they both had nearly a two hour playtime this eve and she seems very happy, just rather odd that she does it as its her sister who is normally the chatty one

I think we enjoy the bonding time more than the girls do and Buffy didn't do it this morning as woodchip said goodnight to them both before going to bed last night, she is a funny goo

I'm starting to wonder, along with Willow's rapid weight gain (30g in a week) and Buffy's alarm call if it could be a post mating call. The "bits" look identical but I'm no expert. I'll post some pictures up tonight of them for other people"s opinions.

OK, cheers Smux. That's eased me a little. I still think Willow may be with pups, and I'll still put some degu genitals on display later for you all to check. lol (Feels like a degu porn ring with the amount of bits posted on here)
