Hello everyone! For those of you that haven't seen my posts I got missexed degus from pets at home (I didn't think to double check ) which resulted in 8 degu babies lol. I'm keeping the two girls with mum and two of the boys with dad, but I need to find homes for the remaining four boys. They were three weeks old yesterday, so will be ready to go in 1-3 weeks, very healthy, lively, cute and friendly. They have been handled since twelve hours old and have no fear of humans, they will usually climb on your hand if you hold it out for them. I would preferably like all four to go to the same home if at all possible but can split them into two groups of two if necessary. I really hope someone can give them a good home as if they get to 6 weeks old and I haven't found anyone to take them I'll have to take them to pets at home, which will break my heart. Please message me if there's anything I haven't thought to mention. Pics to follow!

Well, not that I think you'll be able to, but if you can all four to Birmingham (and they're definately boys) I could have them They'd need to be as young as posible though to ensure that they'll get on with my boys (obviously provided that they don't need they're Mum anymore. I wouldn't want to take them away too soon, as I'm sure you wouldn't either). They would be spoilt here with me, but it's a case of whether you can get them here or not If not, I hope you find a home for them soon Edit: Just checked on google maps and it's a two hour drive.

thanks amie! I'll definately bear you in mind! It might be a struggle to get to birmingham is the only thing as I think I may have to give up my car due to lack of funds, but we'll see! I'll let you know nearer the time they're ready, theyre coming on leaps and bounds, already eating more solids than suckling, and prefer to spend time with dad rather than mum.

Awww, that's sweet! I might be able to help a little towards petrol, but not much considering I'm off sick If you could let me know a little in advance just so I've got the time to prepare for them (if you can get them here), then that'll be great As I said, I'd prefer them as young as posible (not over the six week mark) for the sake of intergrating them with my boys). Sorry about your car. I know they're expensive things! That's why I chose not to drive

your telling me! Lol, but if I beg him my dad may even take me, you never know. Totally understand about the 6 week request, I'll speak to my dad and see what he says, they'd be perfect to help bring (Damon is it?) out of his shell. I seem to remember a post of yours saying he was a little shy? These bambinos have no fear! Theres just one thats a little quick and isn't keen on being handled, but she's a she, and since I only had 2 in the litter they're staying with mum.
Also don't worry about the sexing, I've checked, checked and checked again to make sure and I definately have 6 boys and 2 girls. They're still so tiny! About the size of a dwarf hamster! I read they grow most though between the ages of 4 and 6 weeks, so they should still be pretty small if I manage to get them to you, which will help with introductions.

Fantastic! Hopefully your dad will help if you tell him you'll be over run with degus otherwise! haha. Well, I'm actually hoping for them to live with Sammy and Dean. They've past puberty now and have become completely mellow and chilled out, unlike Stefan who is 10 months old and bursting with.... *what are the words I'm looking?*.... hmmm.... BAD ATTITUDE! lol. I'd love for Elijah to accept them first as he's on his own, but.... I'm not sure he will. So yeah, speak to your dad and let me know what he says You'll get regular updates on how they're doing with me. Pictures and posts

Aw, bad news I'm afraid Amie, my dad won't take me to Birmingham so there's no way I can get them to you! Is there no way you could get to Preston to pick them up? Anyone who could drive you? I'd really like for you to have them, I think you'd give them a fantastic home.

I know my other half isn't crazy on the idea of having more degus. It would make 9 if I had these little babies, so I doubt he'd drive me to you and if he did, he'd expect petrol money off which I don't have due to the sickness I mentioned earlier. He drove 50 miles for me to pick Elijah up, but I doubt he'd do that again as apparently I was pushing it by getting ANOTHER degu I tell you what, I'll speak to my Dad. It's a long shot that he'll want to drive that far to pick them up, but I can ask! I'm not sure about asking him on fathers day though.... a bit cheeky! lol.... but, ah.... I guess that's what daughters are for Awww, thank you for the compliment. I am mad about my little Pikachus! I'd love to have them too. Sammy and and Dean I had from age four months, Elijah I got when he was about three/four (estimate, can't be sure) and Stefan and Damon when they were 12 weeks, so it would be nice to have tame little 6 week old pups to add my gang of furries, lol. I might ask my Dad in a bit, but I'm not sure what he'll say :S

Right, good news! I'm having your babies!.... haha.... I realise how that sounds! I didn't even have to ask my dad. I thought I'd try my partner first and he's agreed to drive to you to pick them up! (There are conditions ofcourse, but I won't go into detail about my end of the bargain, lol). I have a small John Hopewell cage that I can put them in for the journey so that's the carry case sorted. And I'm happy all four boys will stay together. About their deit; you said they're eating some solid food, but what kind of food is it? I've switched mine onto nuggets now because of selective feeding, so is it nuggets they are eating now? If I could have them around the five week mark, that would be great, but if they're not ready to leave Mum at five weeks, I would completely understand and wouldn't want to cause them any harm. We just have to sort out a date. I know weekends are best for my partner, so I'm thinking around Saturday 2nd - Monday 4th of July (he might be able to get the Monday off if his weekend is full). That's obviously if the boys are ready by that time and you're going to be in. Let me know how those dates would work for you and the babies

Yay! They're on P@H Degu nuggets and the burgess excel timothy hay with dandelion and marigold, which I also get from P@H. I'm so glad you can take all 4 boys, I didn't want them to be separated or missexed by P@H and put in with girls.
Five weeks should be absolutely fine, like I say they're eating a lot of solid food now, even taking treats such as porridge oats and tiny flakes of dry carrot, and Saturday the 2nd of July is their 5 week birthday and I'll be here and available on that day!
I'm so glad I've found someone to take them that knows about degus and what to expect, I'd've been really upset if I had to take them to P@H where they might not get the same care and attention.

Awesome! You won't have to worry about them here. Although I know what it's like rehoming, you worry no matter what! When I rehomed the girls, I was sending essays of information to their new owner and had to check up on them everyday for the first week, even though I knew their owner was in love with them from day one. I just couldn't keep the girls with my boys. Great about them already being on P@H nuggets. Mine were on Gerty Guinea Pig and they're not to happy with being put on the nuggets, but I've seen them sneakly eating them making sure I can't see so MAYBE they'll get some Gertie! LOL. Little sods. They'll get meadow hay and a WIDE variety of treats nd toys. I've just done the garden up (so proud of myself! lol) so I might be buying a large outdoor cage (VERY SAFE AND SECURE) so hopefully they'll get time out in the sun too when it's nice. You'll get regular updates and pictures and you'l get to see them grow up I always like to keep people updated. (just want you to feel assured that they'll be fine). Do you know which two you're keeping? I'd like some pictures of the four if that's ok? I can start thinking of names. Will I having the runt of the litter within the group of four? I don't mind at all if I am, I'd just like to know as those little ones can have health problems in the future (not always, but sometimes). Ooooh, I'm so excited!!!! I'll have to let you know the exact date we can travel to you as soon as my partner checks his diary and lets me know Yay! I'm getting babies!!!!

oooooooh! Exciting! I know it sounds bad but I'm not worried about you looking after the boys at all! I've seen your degu pics and the advice you give before and I know they'll have such a happy little life with you and your boys. The runt of the litter is the afore mentioned baby girl who isn't keen on being handled so there's no worries there. They're still a little bit young to be able to tell apart, esp with them all being agouti, the only discernable difference with them is that there seems to b two boys that are slightly larger than the others. I would prefer it if the large boys were separated so that we keep one each, just to stop them fighting with eachother over dominance, as they're both quite a bit bigger than the others, but seem pretty evenly matched. I'll get my sisters camera out tonight at some point (its a professional one so you get good pics) and take some pics of all 6 boys then you can have a look, they're terribly cute at the moment, but some look a little greasy (they haven't got the hang of dust baths yet and rubbing it in yourself isn't quite as effective). It's such a big weight off my mind that I've found such a good home for them, I'm thrilled to bits, I know you'll love them just as much as I do and take good care of them

I sure will! I'm well excited! Can't wait for pictures. I honestly don't mind which ones I'm given.... you have first pick obviously lol. Aslong as they're all CUTE (which they will be because they're mini-mini degus!). If they haven't got the hang of a sandbath by the time they come to live with me, I'll spend time teaching them, greasy little mites, lol. Haha.... I'm already setting up the spare cage and making them some hammocks! (Just for the first few nights while they settle. Not going to stress them with meeting they're new family on the first night after all that travelling and new people). I might have a few names lined up aswell. I think the smallest one will have to be called 'Tyrion' after the dwarf from the book 'Game of Thrones', lol. Oh, I do hope they stay MINI for me for a while. I remember how quick they grow! So, yes! Gald this is all sorted. Can't wait. PICS! LOL

ha ha! I'll get on it right away! I love game of thrones! Tyrion Lanaster lol, good name! I was going for old fashioned ones myself, their mummy is called Edna and their daddy (formerly Phyllis) is now called Ernie and I decided to call one of the big boys samson and the runtish girl jessebell. I think I may call the other boy I keep Tiberious, and I'm not sure about the other girl. They should still be small when you come, I would estimate at 5 weeks they'll be roughly the size of a syrian hamster maybe? I've seen some of the babies at P@H that must be 4-5 weeks and they are still small, cute babies. I'm sure they'll pick up how to use a sandbath sooner rather than later. I should say aswell, I have no Idea whether or not Edna and Ernie are related, or how closely related they may be, its very possible that they are brother and sister I'm afraid, although none of the babies appear to have any defects at present, and are all very healthy looking little bundles of energy pinging around the cage, they could be more prone to diabetes, cataracts, or have teeth that will grow too fast which may require regular burring, I'm afraid it's too early to tell yet whether thi is the case or not, so it's definately a consideration. Enough chit- chat! Where's this camera? lol. A new mummy would like to see her babies I don't know if I said above but I'm obv not expecting any money for them, P@H gave me enough free stuff to feed them and keep them up to the weaning point, so they won't have cost me a penny to keep by the time you come

Good to know they're free, lol. I woundn't have been able to pay for them anyway! Haha. Game of Thrones is awesome! I watched the series and I'm on the second book now. There's five books in the series of a song of ice and fire, Game of Thrones being the first of the series of books. I like the TV series too, but there's so much more to the books (and I'm not a big reader). The series leaves so many things out.... but, still great! I've gone for names from my favourite TV shows for all of mine.... haha. Wouldn't want to break the theme now! As for the case of incest, best they do come to me then. Even babies that might be born of incest deserve happy lives! Mine could be of incest for all I know, but I haven't had any problems with them. They're all registered at the vets, but I've never had to use them. If you going for old fashioned names.... Eddard is a good name (from Game of Thrones again), but we MIGHT end up with degus who have the same name! lol. Yes, camera! hehe

I suppose not many people know just quite how incest their degus are, but they look very healthy! even the runt girl is just smaller, she isn't ill or lethargic. I'll let you take your pic of the degus when you come as every single one will climb onto my hand without a second thought, but some are a little braver with strangers than others so these might be the best ones for you to take with you, but like I say, I'd like to separate the two biggest to stop fighting.
Pics are uploading now, sorry for the delay, I'm a technophobe and my sister has done one and left me to it! taken me ages to work out how to get them onto my laptop!
