Hi All We have 2 grey chinchillas. 1 Male and 1 female in the same cage. They are just over 3 years old. The male over thelast 6/7 months has started to malt but has no bald patches. The cage is in the same place and they are in the same routine. Anyone have any suggestions as this is driving my wife crazy with all the fur everywhere.... Any help appreciated. Thanks Shane

chins normally lose fur if they are frightened. Could something be scaring him? xx

Has the female got bald patches ? If so this is not normal moulting . If she has bald patches its possible she is either chewing herself or the male is chewing her . This can happen due to stress or boredom / lack of stimulation or other causes
Unlike rabbits chins do not pull their fur out when pregnant nutz
