I've sadly decided to rehome my 2 male degus (3 years old) due to work commitments I can't give them the time they deserve. They have been lovely pets, both really tame, love being handled & very inquisitive. They are two brothers who have lived together their whole lives, I'll only let them go together. Their large cage and all accessories can go with them, this will include: large cage - originally from Pets@Home, glass aquarium bottom with two metal levels on top accessed by ladders. cage wheel especially made for degus exercise ball with optional stand two cage perches in cage cargo net cage ladder dust bath, feeding bowl, water bottle & any food, hay, treats, dust & sawdust I have. I also have a second cage only used occasionally by my boys (when on holiday) it has a plastic tray bottom, tall mesh wire top with wooden levels. I live in Gloucestershire and can deliver the boys & accessories if needed.

Surprising no-one else has responded to this, although my reason for no response is the obvious that I already have 9 little buggers over 3 cages so it isn't practical to take on two more...much as I want to, as they sound just like the two boys I got recently but better (these two aren't brothers and have the odd tiff, plus there's a weird dominance issue where neither seems to want to be dominant but both want domination :-))
If there's still no interest in them later on I may take them on with the hopeful intention of introducing them to the other two boys and letting them all have a bigger cage, but I can't guarantee anything as I already have 9 and the flatmate originally wanted 1 :-)

Oh I really hope you find a forever home soon for these lovely lil lads. I wish I could help, but I live way to far away and have a lil gang of 10 myself including my new lil babies. But hopefully you will find someone soon.

Hi guys, thank you for your interest in my boys I have to say that actually it didn't all go well! The forum member who had confirmed she would take them stopped replying to my emails a few days before we were due to meet! I've heard nothing from her since - no explaination - I feel this is very disappointing behaviour. I was having to get ready to say goodbye to these little fellas that I'm so fond of & then I suddenly find there is no home for them to go to! Therefore my two boys remain safe at home with me and I have to say I'm pretty reluctant to rehome them after this bad experience.

I wouldn't take one member's actions as indicative of how everyone will be here, but perhaps hold onto them for a little longer and wait for the perfect home to come along (if there's such a thing) :-)
Edit: And barring that, I stand by my original option of taking them if you don't find anywhere else and HAVE to get them out of the house. Downside is I don't drive and I'm in London (hence why I don't drive...public transport gets me anywhere I want to go :-)) so you'd have to drop them off...but it's an option if nothing else.
Saying that, it'd bring my total number of degus up to 11 so unless I can get your guys to socialise with the two boys I might have problems, but I'm sure something could be worked out to sort this out :-)

Hi StumpyandSkittle. I am very sorry for you quite disappointing and unpleasant experience with one of our newer members here on the forum. I took the opportunity to look back at her collection of posts here on the forum, and it seems that her purpose in joining the forum was to locate EITHER a couple of degus or a chinchilla to add to her family of pets. Apparently she was not looking for both, but was fishing in both pools, and didn't provide you with the courtesy of informing you of her open ended mindset. Unfortunately this has resulted in what seemed to be a promising transaction for you and your degus, that she has now let fall flat, leaving you in the lurch and wondering what on earth has happened.
I do most sincerely apologize for this. I hope that things will work better for you in the future, whether that continues to mean re-homing your little loves or keeping them yourself. I hope that you can find support, and perhaps friendship, here on the forum, if you feel so inclined.

Thanks to all for their replies and thank you to deguconvert for a possible explaination which will put my mind at rest following some strange behaviour from the forum member. Although I'm touched at the offers of homes and thank you for your interest, for now I'm going to keep the boys with me - perhaps it is a happy ending after all and I'm grateful that there are some genuine degu lovers on the forum too
