I am wanting to get some degus. Does getting babies versus 'older' degus make a difference in taming/temperment? I have the opportunity to get a 2 1/2 year old male and 2-6month old males that have been housed together their whole lives, or should I look for youngsters?

I guess it depends on how determined you are to patiently stick to hand taming them. Do you know much about their history? How tame are they right now? Have you seen and handled them yourself? Are you well familiar with degus and their care etc? They can be tamed, and it will depend on their history as to how easy it will be for you to build a trust relationship with them. You can do it though! This is a great forum, too. Lots of members that are happy to advize and lend a helping hand. Go ahead and ask questions . . . and do lots of reading. Maybe look through and do lots of reading on this particular board. There are many helpful discussions!
