Well - after an extensive discussion between my mum and dad about how to introduce our 5 new boys (7weeks old) to our 3 baby boys (6 weeks old) we finally introduced them altogether and it was extensively harmonious!!!! My mum said we should go by the book whereas my dad said throw them in together and see what happens - eek Soooo, we got the old rat cage out and introduced them as follows:- one on one two on two three on three four on three five on three There was only a slight touch of squabbling and that was between 2 of the 5 new boys. We left them for an hour, cleaned and re-arranged our newly built cage and then put them all in together and its been wonderful since!!!! Although we didn't introduce them like my mum wanted to, she is over the moon that they all get on and are all loved up and my dad just says I told you so. I think if they would've been older then there would've been a lot of fighting but because they are still only babies I think it has worked out great. We don't have another 2 cages in the lounge and we now have floor space and a lounge that doesn't look like a pet shop!!!! Good luck to all those with introductions - I hope it runs smoothly for you and that you goo's too can be loved up like mine!!!! AJ

hey well lets hope it runs in their genes and their mum and sisters are as easy to introduce as their brothers were! we nicknamed mum cruella because when i was changing their water about 3 days ago she launched herself across the cage and bit through my finger! through the nail aswell! the babies are gorgeous i cant stop playing with them - they're still very shy but if i sit there long enough they jump onto my hand - usually all 3 at once so im getting good at catching them now! lol. once they've settled down a bit more - maybe at the end of this week, i'll take some photos for you so you can see how they're getting on . we havent got them in our cage yet as the mum had babies so mum and dad are busy looking after their one week old babies at the moment and they might not like having 4 more degus about. i'll keep you updated though! sounds like you're having fun with all your degus!
