Introducing a degu with poor sight?

I have my pair of Degus Beans and Toasty I introduced them back in January February time and I've never had any problems with them. After moving them to a bigger cage I had their old cage going spare so I when I came across a lone Degu up for adoption in p@h I took him home.
I know little about his past other than he looks quite old, although this may be due to his battered apperance as the sales person said that they thought he was a year old. He's really tame but apparently he was abandoned.
The main issue is that he has cataracts making him blind in one of his eyes, and although the other one seems better I don't know how well he can see in it.
I've placed his cage next to the other degus and am doing the whole swapping sandbaths things. They seem pretty happy chirping to eachother through the bars although originally there was alot of teeth grinding by Toasty in response to him. They've met a couple of times in the bathtub but it hasn't been going well. Beans is really good with him and they seem to get on well together, but add toasty into the equation and everything goes wrong. Toasty is alot less gentle with "sonic" and seems to take advantage of his weakness nudging him repeatedly on his blind side, before sonic retaliates and it ends in a fight, where sonic can't fight back properly.
Has anyone had any experience introducing an older or weaker degu, is there anything extra I can do to make it more fair. I don't really want "sonic" to have to live alone, because its not him starting the fights and he does seem to get on with beans. But theres no way I want to split up beans and toasty either, so I would really like this to work.

Hi Spud. I hear your concern and certainly understand your deep hope that they can all get along. I think that you just need to grab your patience and determination and hold on for whatever length of time it may take for things to be successful. I really think it will happen and will be good, but you need be the boss of it all, as in TOP degu. LOL! Do you use a water spray bottle, towel, and a good loud squeak of your own, when you are doing the introductions? These are useful tools to let them know that you very much disapprove of their fighting and it must stop at once. Humping, nudging, and boxing are all OK, and they even need to have this interaction to keep things good amongst themselves, but the nasty rolling fur ball, growling, kungfoo kicking, and rapid leaping about kind of fighting needs to be stopped. Using the afore mentioned tools, you will be able to "enter" their circle, so to speak, and help them learn what is expected of them. Become a degu whisperer . . . . It can take some time, but it will be well worth it. Let us know how you are getting along!

They are all in the cage together now, its been 24hours and so far no fights, the past two attempts had to be called off after less than an hour due to fighting. So I'm hoping all my patience over the past month and a bit has paid off.
They are currently all sleeping together in the hammock although I feel a bit sorry for sonic as he's at the bottom of the pile. I have a feeling its going to be ok this time as for the past few nights they have been sleeping against the bars of their separate cage next to eachother and all the teeth grinding stopped a couple of weeks ago.
I think its helped that the sonic (the partially blind one) is a good fighter so although the younger male (toasty) in the past has tried to pick on him and take advantage of his blind side, toasty always comes off worse. I'm home over the weekend so I'm going to keep a very close eye on them before I trust them together when I leave the house.

That sounds great!! I'm glad things are coming together so well. I hope with you that it is a done deal, and they will be very settled and happy together from now on.
