Hi there Peeps I have a problem. Most of the time i can clean my Goo's cage while their still in it and they seem ot take great interest in the brush etc. i use to do it. However the time has come for the cage to get a big clean that requires the goos to get out so they dont get soaked. 1 of my goos, gadget, is perfectly fine and i can get him out with little fuss. However my other, Gizmo, is a very nervous and angry little bugger. In the past he has bitten me whenever i try to get him out with my hands. Since then he has become wise to my various tricks such as getting him to jump in a box which i quickly close or trap him in the pot with a treat in the bottom. Has anyone got any ideas or tips about how to get him out. The cage is starting to smell funny! PS. Attempts to get my degus to enjoy a trip out of the cage have always failed. I know they benefit from getting out from time to time but whenever i set up a run for them, they never leave.

if the room is secure that the cage is in, just open the cage, keep very still and leave the cage alone. They will probably both jump out just out of curiosity. You might need to give it a little while before you clean it out but it's what I did with Saphira and Houdini and now they just run around the room when i clean the cage out. They still dont like me enough to let me move them anywhere which is why I allow them to run about.

Long cardboard tubes are great. I used to use this for one of my girls. I'd put the tube in and then start removing all the branches, shelves, wheel etc. Eventually the only place left to hide would be the tube. Once she was in I'd put one hand flat over each end and move her. She's much friendlier now and when I put there travel box in they know it's cleaning time, they still wait for me to remove everything beacause I give them their wacky races time before I make them get in the travel box.
