I guess my question has been answered: Yes, female degus can go into heat even when all the boys have been neutered. Blossom had to be moved to her "Bachelorette Apartment" last night because she was picking nasty fights with everyone. Hopefully she'll calm down in a day or two.... Sarah

Aww, poor Blossom!
Since I've got only guys, I'm curious. How do you know she's in heat? Do degus bleed then? How long does this usually last?

I've never noticed any bleeding, but she gets very, very cranky and her eyes are like slits. She jiggles her butt around a lot and attacks Buddy because he can't give her what she wants! She's usually back to normal in a day or two and ready to be reunited with her family.
