First of all, the peeing and pooing on people should be taken as a complement. It's there way of saying 'you're mine'. As it is, my two will only do it on me, and normally before I go out (they know ). It is definitely not a bad thing, even though maybe not something you want them to do on guests, lol. As for the cage. Unfortunately the staining is something you'll have to put up with on solid floors. I have the same thing on ''their'' windowsill that they play on. Although my babies tend to poo and pee mostly in front of their wheel, they also do it all over the cage. Again, it's just a scenting thing. I would suggest for cleaning the boards, you might use some water and a little white vinegar. don't use too much vinegar though. It should work ok, and even though it will never be bright white, it will be clean As for the training, I could be here all day with that one, lol. My two are unbelievable, I'm sure they're more intellegent than me If you'd like to chat on msn and maybe get some help/ideas, please feel free to add me, I'd love to help in any way I can!!! Hope some of that helps, take care and good luck!

I read somewhere that you should never wash Degus because they could die from a heart attack due to the stress. What you must do is make sure they have a sand bath because this will keep them clean. I have 5 boys who use to wee all over the cage now I leave a sandbath in their cage all the time and after they have rolled in it they use it as a toilet. Each day I put the sand through an old sieve which takes the mess out then each week I throw the sand away and put new in as you only have 2 Degus if you sieve it each day the sand should last quite a while and not cost too much. Hope this helps.
