Hello fellow degu owners-
I just got my degus a few weeks ago and wondered what treats I could feed them. I've tried fresh carrot and cucumber but, they all refused. Are there any for-sure treats that I don't have to worry about too much sugar or something?
Are carrots O.K.? What veggies can i give?
Thx for any suggestions/ answers...

Whereabouts are you based? Uk or US will make a difference as to what is available to you, that's all. I use pumpkin seeds as a treat, also occasional broccoli, romaine lettuce when I can get it, curly kale, dandelion leaves and I buy treats from this site here, which actually lists which of it's products are degu safe. It is a UK site though. www.chinchillas2shop.co.uk/.... but be warned, I cannot shop there without spending a small fortune, lol!

You don't have to spend a small fortune, everything's reasonably priced, and the proceeds go to the chinchilla rescue. It's just so exciting to see all these products that we can buy for degus that I tend to go a bit mad...... ;D They're all really friendly as well. Glad you like it Jason!!

One of the best treats you can give is dandilion leaves, and the flowers when they are in bloom. You need to ensure they are picked from an area away from car fumes, and weed killer!!!! A bucket of soil left somewhere out of the way in the garden is an ideal place to cultivate your own!
Aside from dandilion leaves, the other treats mentioned are good, ensure they are treats however, degus can very easily get fat!!
