I never fed him a vegetable before but after reading up about which ones are good and which are bad and such, I read that baby carrots okay to feed him on a routine basis.
I handed him a baby carrot, and at first he just sniffed it and left it alone but after a while, he started nibbling on it.
I'm so happy he likes them because I do too. ;D

I have just bought a bag of dried carrot at the pet shop. It contains no added sugar or colourings. The degus love it. Just wondering if there is a limit for feeding carrot to degus. Cheers...

My Degu Girls love dried carrot too but I am fearful of giving them the dried carrots because carrots are a vegetable naturally high in sugars. I'd read on one of the supply sites you could give the carrot bones - dog treats made of pure carrot - to Degus. My girls really loved them. Thought it would be good for keeping teeth worn down because they are very hard. I haven't given them one in a while because it makes me uneasy.
If only we knew for certain. I don't like to experiment with my girls.
