So, I am in need of a new cage for my two little goo's. They chewed a hole through their holding cell ( ) because the bottom had to be plastic as no where here carries cages that are completely metal. Even all the ferret cages we looked at had plastic bottoms. So basically, I am completely out of options and am in need of some suggestions. So any advice/suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

Rat cages and double rat cages are often all metal.

Indoor aviaries are almost always all metal, as are the Critter cages. Both of these types of cages are available in the UK and also the USA. As Ricky says, if you tell us where you are based we can help you. Chinchilla cages are all metal too.

snogglesnitch, if you can only get a plastic bottom cage, you can add wire to protect it, or as aimeelou says, try ebay.
Can I please also ask you put a rough location on your name to avoid posts that ask where you live? its a rule of the forum Im afraid. It doesnt have to be any more detailed that a rough part of the country. Eg Im in Bristol, UK, but I could just put south west UK, and that would be enough! Ta.

The Chinchilla cages I bought from the local pet store had plastic bases. My Degu Girls soon chewed throught the base too! I couldn't find a metal based cage to my specifications for my two so I bought some 1/4" plate glass cut to size - put it together with aquarium grade silicone. Has worked very well. Made the sides deep enough to keep most of the bedding in the cage and deep enough the double decker condo doesn't tip over when the girls are bounding about!

What I did with the cage cause I couldn't afford to buy one was found a whole bunch of rabbit cages one for sure with the metal tray bottom and joined them all upwards. I finally found that I am good at something!! I have learned that I can make a cage out of any type of scrap caging I can find!! ;D I hope that helps a little.
