just a little secret thought i would share with you guys, get some of those old fashioned pegs those wooden ones(not the ones with the metal spring clip thingy) the all wooden ones and post them through the bars of the cage then the degus spend ages gnawing them its more interesting for them if its sticking through the cage and not just given to them . coz once they got it they lose interest, they are really cheap to buy and arent coated in anything nasty.

Great question. They're one and the same. In Canada (at least in my family) we call them "Clothes pegs"... a compromise between "pegs" and "clothes pins".

I guess we call them Cloths Pins because they are used to "pin" laundry to the cloths line when hung to dry. Never gave it a thought. There really is no pin involved!
