Ok, finally found 2 male degus, going to pick them up in morning, I had previously looked at some cages on martin's cages, but while searching on ebay I found a great deal on a super pet ferret cage, it has a plastic bottom, but I know someone who can make me a metal one, do you guys think this will be OK, for my new degus, if not that is OK, I got a heck of a deal for it, and won't mind it setting in garage until I can use it, I priced these on line and they are going for 169.00, so I really got a steal at 36 bucks, the bars are spaced one inch apart, and the best part is the people I bought it off of, are going to meet me where I am going to pick up degus, so everything can be done in one stop, I am so excited, will post pics when I get everybody home!!! Bye Steph!! hope the link works let me know if it doesn't!!! cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&item=290016711419&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3APIC&rd=1

Was also wondering about the persch type branches that you would screw onto your birds cage , are these safe for degus, was thinking about purchasin a couple to fill up some space in that cage, since it is so large, and the other day i found my wheel at a yard sale for a dollar. it is solid and although it is plastic I couldnt turn it down for a buck, figure it will last me until I get everyone settled.

Hi again....I use both wooden bird perches and and cement perches[the really rough ones], the latter I use near water bottles so that when my boys need a drink, they file their nails at the same time ] ......They also have some old parrot toys to play with, try thick rope tied across the cage and never forget the cheap and cheerful[and easily replacable] favourite cardboard boxes!!! My wheel is plastic....a[not so] Silent Spinner ,they've had it for months and so far have not chewed it, although they can remove it from the side of the cage!?!? Lisa x
