Have gone the old fashioned way, and drawn the size you said, it looks to me that this size could be an issue for young degus. And to be honest, bloody minded adults, its not a problem for escaping degus, but heads of the young could get stuck if they try and put them through, and knowing how nosy degus are.....
How old are the degus that will be housed in it?

i have no idea as im not prepared to actually go out and obtain a pair of degus yet until ive done all my research and feel i am ready for them, but ive decided to go with 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch wire cage. i will be purchasing them from a pet store a couple hours away since there is only one breeder in my state and i cannot get ahold of her. im very lucky i even found a shop that carrries them.
