I hope this is the right place for this, I think it is, sorry if it's not.
We added a bunch to our rat's cage and we thought it would be great to show it off/show other rat lovers what it looks like! Plus Rats cages are a bit close to degus cages so if you guys want to use any of the ideas of get ideas that's great. I took a lot of pictures and close-ups. Also sorry about some of the pictures on my wall, I have a random collage of "stuff" on this wall.
This is the overall look of it, the size is over half of my wall and the height up my upper chest.
This is a picture of the first cage we used and this is supposedly big enough for 4 rats, but we didn't think so. ;D
This is a picture of the new cage we added onto the side, it's 4 levels and has ramps/tubes connecting giving access to all levels easily.
Our girls are picky sometimes and don't like to climb or jump so we made cool little tubes out of a dryer hose for every level and then put soft fabric on each level also.
This is our bottom level, we put the litter on one side and the food on the other then use chloroplast to divide each side. Puting food on one side and bathroom on the other further encourages them to use the potty on that side only.
This just a better picture to see the dividing that the chloroplast does. Also in case you are wondering the bedding is a mixture of hay, aspen, and recycled paper pellets. It's great for the smells and very absorbent
