Well they say, the look of the cage shows the love of the owner, or at least the size of their visa ( ;Dhahaha ;D). I've talked to some of the people on here and leaned how they came to love degus and other animals in general, but I've never been able to look at how amazing their cage is. I was hoping that everyone could post a general picture of their cage(s) as well as the "proud points" of their cage(s). This is also a good way to improve or collaborate on peoples cages and see if you can find ideas for the cage that they might have not thought of.
I'll post pictures of my three cages when I'm able to get my camera working right. ^_^

Sorry, I had an entire thread a page back entitled Building a Degu Condo. I flipped back there and discovered the pictures are no longer available because I cleaned out my photobucket account forgetting if the photos were not in my album they could not be viewed on my posts! I'll have to re-enter my pictures.

I don't have any pics yet, no digital camera, so you may have to wait a little while! It's a good idea though, I love seeing pics of other peoples' cages.

Still have to fill it with more fun stuff, but I'm now finished building the cage "topper" itself. I used pre-fabricated shelving cut to various lengths. The top opens, the side opens, and there's one door on the front. The aquarium has a door on the side where we removed the previously broken glass. The shelves are made from polypropylene and polyethylene cutting boards. Most things are attached with wire. There is a hay loft made from a small dishwasher cage. The blue pocket is just a pocket style oven mitt.

I finally got my phone to work so I got a few pictures! \ We're adding height to it very soon and as you can see it's a little clustered with toys.

We grabbed some cheap wooden ladders for ferrets, because we were told that metal hurts their feet, is it true?

gingerfish, you'll want to look into getting a cage with a metal base, unless you want your degus to make your whole house their cage! i had a cage like that at the very beginning, and one day while i was at work they had chewed 2 giant holes in either side and spent several hours exploring my apartment! many pet stores now sell cages with solid metal bottoms, and those have worked great for me!

My girls quickly chewed through a plastic base too. I ordered up some plated glass cut to my specifications then built a glass base using aquarium grade silicone gel. It has held up well and does the job. Cost me about $65.00 US.

Mine is ok, it has nowhere for their teeth to bite into.

Mine is ok, it has nowhere for their teeth to bite into. oh, is it one of those where the bars go all the way to the floor so they can't get to it? that's excellent. :3
