So, thanks to the very good advice I found here on this forum, we removed the wheel shortly after the babies were born. I hadn't even thought about doing that, but it made perfect sense because it would be so easy for one of them to go flying if an adult jumped on. They are bigger now (6 weeks old this Saturday, 3/17) and we're wondering when it might be safe to put it back in.
We have two wheels: the Hopwell solid type and a brand new flying saycer. Do you think one would be more safe than the other? Are the babies old enough now?
My big degus are going crazy -- they really miss their wheel!
Thanks, as always!

I would wait till the babys are grown up to near adult size, wheels are never safe with babys around as the parents still tend to go crazy on them and knock the babys flying! I had the same trouble with mine, they love their wheel so i used to get the wheel out every night for them because it had a stand to it and let them go mad for an hour on it.
