hi, im new to the forum and degus. i rescued 2 sister degus from a rescue. someone brought in a pair with 6 babies, the mum was put with the 4 daughters (2 of which i adopted) and the dad was put with the 2 sons. i was wondering how old the babies are because they were smaller than their mum (they weigh 100g each) the mum is pregnant and is showing signs which must mean she is between 8 and 12 weeks pregnant and im guessing if she got pregnant immediately after birth of the first litter that my pair must be between 8 and 12 weeks. can anyone please tell me how old your degus are when they are roughly 100g? thanks

I'm not an expert on that so I can't tell you, I would email the webmaster of www.degus.org because they are really amazing. Well done for rehoming the degus, I got my degus from a rescue too. They really are such rewarding creatures. A degu pregnancy lasts about 90 days, it does become quite obvious when they're showing. Do they have nest building material? Apparently they get very into nest building when close to birthing. Be very gentle with her though, pregnant degus are very fragile and miscarry easily. I'm no expert, those are just bits that I've picked up whilst researching degus, email the guy mentioned above though I'm sure he'll be able to help you if no one else replies quickly!

I found a degu growth chart!
For female degus, at 100 grams they're approximately 6 weeks old.
Female Degus Weight and Body Length (nose to rump) 100 g (3.5 oz) - 115 mm (4.5 inches) - 6 weeks 113 g (4 oz) - 130 mm (5.1 inches) - 7 weeks 123 g (4.3 oz) - 155 mm (6.1 inches) - 8 weeks 130 g (4.5 oz)- 175 mm (6.9 inches) - 9 weeks 137 g (4.8 oz) - 200mm (7.8 inches) - 10 weeks 170-300 g (6-10.5 oz) - 250 mm (9.8 inches) - Adult
I hope that helps.
