My husband and I have a 7ish year old male Degu called Jasper in the Leeds area - Wakefield specifically. We sadly need to rehome him as his brother passed on and we’re not in a position to adopt more.
We adopted Jasper and his late brother Smudge September/October 2020 and were told they were around 4 years old and as far as is known they’d always been a pair.
Jasper is very gentle and active. He loves to run in his wheel and is always keen to explore out of his cage. He loves to chew new wood and forage for treats.
He can be quite shy with new people but once he warms up he’s very loving and friendly. He especially enjoys sitting on our laps next to his cage and chilling while piling on our kneecaps.
He’s very inquisitive and is used to a lot of playtime out of the cage so would need to go to a home that can provide that.
He was checked at the vets around 3 months ago and has a clean bill of health but is prone to infection in his left eye. Doesn’t seem to bother him but its worth a mention. Usually we use eye gel or drops and it clears up.
Other than that he’s super healthy and active. He has never had the need for any other treatments/surgeries etc.
We love him very much and are so sad to rehome him but he deserves a place where he can be with other degus.
We’re only willing to rehome him to someone that can give him the love, treatment and forever home environment he needs/deserves.
We can deliver him and are willing to go a little further afield for the perfect match. He can be rehomed with his cage, toys, food etc. for free.
His brother passed recently so he will need a few weeks at least to grieve before any change.
