Hi. My lovely Ginger is on her own having lost her partner a few months back. She’s an old lady and I wouldn’t dream of trying to introduce another Degu into her world. She’s doing really well though but needs something to cuddle up to in her bed. We’ve tried stuffing a sock with bedding but twice now the little madam has chewed it and then got a thread caught around her leg! Today she managed to get it stuck around her tail as well! Thankfully she’s a lovely girl and sat patiently whilst I very carefully (and whilst holding my breath) manage to get it off!
So any idea of other things I can give her to cuddle up to? She’d be quite happy for me to stand there all night so she can sleep on my hand. As much as I adore her that’s not an option 😂

I'm sorry for your loss.
Does Ginger have a heatpad or snugglesafe that she can curl up on? If she won't tolerate a toy or stuffed sock, it can be a good option.

Mine used to like little dog toys - Spidey had a particular donkey he loved.
As Savvy said, heat pads are a blessing!
If you're happy to stay with degus as pets, I wouldn't rule out cage mates. If you can find a couple of young (6-10 weeks) pups, you may find her motherly instincts will kick in. It depends on degu personality, though. I've had one failure (Spidey hated anything disturbing his kingdom), but two successes.
