Oh, are those these long perspex pieces that you slot in near the base of the cage bars so things won't drop out? I have some that came with my larger cages.
At least for the ones I have, which just slide in place, they don't really get everything. The goos push things out from above, and some amount of stuff will find its way through unless you fix them in place very tightly. Things also get wedged between the bars and the guard, so it's a bit of a mess when you remove them for cleaning.
That being said, they do spare some mess at least, so it's not like they are worthless. A lot of hay and stuff still finds its way to our floor, but I there would be more if we didn't have them.

Given how far goos can fling poo (especially when running in a wheel), I'm not sure poo can ever be contained!
