Check there are no air locks in the bottles, just tap the top of each bottle to see if there are air bubbles.

The bubbles should be rising, not on the side. Sorry for the confusion.
Tap the flat top of the bottle and look for water at the end of the spout.

Tap water is fine. It could be that they just aren't thirsty.
Check that the bottles are accessible to them, i.e. not too high or low, not to near to anything else, etc.

Don't panic too much. I have one group that, even when they were a threesome, it would take a week to get through a bottle. Sausage and Spud take 3-4 days, and Snoozy and Sneaky drink even faster.

They might be reluctant to drink if the bottle is in an exposed and scary location for them. Place it near somewhere they can hide.

they'll eat non-treat foods out in the open but not drink for a full day? :/
i moved the bottle to behind the little log tunnel.

You can try it if you want. Did they have a bottle before you got them?
Degus do most of there drinking soon after getting up and then through the evening.

the bottles i have are the bottles i got with the cage, so it isn't as if they're afraid of the unfamiliar object

Then I shouldn't worry!

Late to the party but my girls have never drunk from a bottle. I’ve tried it a few times and they haven’t got the slightest interest. They much prefer a bowl. Each to their own, maybe try a bowl too and see if you notice a difference?

Remove the water bowl if they're not using it, as long as they're drinking something they should be ok. They may be drinking when you're not there.
