My degu has a bald spot up near his nose. My mom noticed it and brought it up to my attention. I am assuming it's possible he has the bald spot due to running on the wheel and maybe scrubbing up against it with his nose.
Could this be a possibility? As his old wheel was a little small for him.

Sounds right to me- degus very often get bald patches on their noses by chewing repeatedly the bars of their cage. Look at pictures on the internet and you will notice a great many degus have their bald patches! However, if the degu spends most of his time chewing repeatedly at the bars of his cage, it is considered a behavioral problem linked to boredom: the bald patch might mean he is sorely bored and might get truly depressed. The best thing: get him a companion!

would the same account for a little tiny bald patch on a degus tail?. one of my boys has a tin bald patch...although i believe he has never had a wheel (im in the process of changing that though).
