Should degus have extra vitamin C added to their diet?
I'm asking for someone who's looking into the vitamin C needs of chinchillas, as we can't find anything in regards to the vitamin C needs of chinchillas

I think . . . not completely certain . . . that most animals are able to manufacture any Vit. C needs out of the nutrients they take in. Which I think includes both chins and degus?

It is thought that degus can produce vitamin C but not certain, I think. There is a reference to a paper on degutopia www.degutopia.co.uk/degudiet.htm I suppose degus on 100% natural diets and only getting dried forage might be vulnerable to deficiency if it were a problem, but I've not seen it crop up. It is normally added to commercial food.

Mine are 100% natural, and have never had any issue. The vet also said their diet was complete (in his opinion) with the vitamin D
