Ideally I would like 2 degus but the place I'm buying them from have 3 sisters. I feel it would be a shame to separate them. I am also worried they may fight as it's an odd number. (I once had 3 gerbils, 2 of them really ganged up on one and it was the first to die). Please can anyone give me some advice. I am due to collect them this Sat 11th Nov. Thank you!

I think with degus it's different. As long as they are in a group I don't think it matters if it's an odd number or not. I have never personally tried it so I might be way off my rocker........but I hope that helps a bit. Oh and if they already live together then what would be the difference???

I have three degus, I would say please, please have all three. They will miss each other if you separate them and the likelihood is that one will end up living alone, which would be very sad. Personally, I think three is very good number as if the worst happens, at least the other would not be left alone.
My three get on really well, they snuggle up together and play together and never fight. Gerbils are different as they can sometimes 'de-clan' - degus do not do this. The more the merrier I would say. Go for it and enjoy them!! :-)

Congratulations! I have two a mother/daughter pair but would have kept three daughters if a friend hadn't wanted them. Hanlou is right, the more the merrier as far as the Degus are concerned!
