What an awesome setup, Bounce is in good hands and will have a forever home there I'm sure. If me and Rob hadn't wanted human children, this is definitely the type of setup we would be aiming for too it's nice that you feel reassured and will be getting updates, I still give updates about Boo and Toby to their old owners occasionally.

That's part of what makes her new owners so perfect Catafer, when she explained it she said she doesn't want children of her own, but wants something she can love and spoil - which is where the goos come in! Honestly, it's a set up more amazing than I dared to dream of finding ^_^ And once everyone has been bonded there's talk of building an enclosure covering half of the room so that the doors to the aventuras can be open/off and they have all that space permanently! Maybe I should suggest they become a holiday destination for goo lovers, haha I'm doing as well as can be expected, thanks DC It's sad here, but thinking about how happy Bounce will be makes it worth it. Seeing her empty cage is hard, I haven't been able to bring myself to clean and store it yet but I'm hoping I can tackle that today. Nath was fussing Goo and Riley yesterday, and automatically turned around to say hi to Bounce before it hit him she wasn't there. It's all very bittersweet. We will adjust, though.

That is wonderful to hear, she has gone to the right place. That's the trouble I have with my degu setup now, it's not exactly Toddler friendly... Absolutely no idea what we will do when my girl is moving! Obviously my degus have a forever home with me.. But it will mean some extra challenges to overcome in the future. I don't really think degus are child friendly personally, what with all the mess and poo flicking - plus they are so fast and skittish. I don't think they would bite Emily unless she absolutely asked for it... I'd be more worried about Emily pulling their tails in an attempt to hold them, or holding them incorrectly, or letting them escape, or eating their poo lol! So many things to consider as she gets older *sigh*.

Yeah, the sheer scale of poo flicking is rather alarming, haha! I have no idea how it happens, but we find goo raisins in the most random places. I'm planning on getting perspex poo guards and kitting out the aventura with them (just as soon as they stop throwing monthly gigantic vet bills at my bank, lol!) I've seen people use entire sheets to completely perspex the sides, so maybe that'd be an option? I imagine so long as the front and top are left mostly open ventilation shouldn't be too much of an issue. Luckily our goos are in a room with laminate flooring so sweeping up is easy, even if it /is/ a never ending task. I agree, I don't think they're the best child-friendly pet either. They'd be great for an interested mid-late teen with the right attitude, but not young kids. Quick little guys with long interesting tails to grab - eek! If rats are the dogs of the rodent world, then surely degus are the cats! Independent critters who don't need no hooman! Except for feeds and fuss, and to throw their hard earned money at them hahaha. BOUNCE UPDATE - Her new mum messaged and said she is doing really well, and greeted her this morning when she went to say hi Bounce is living to her true 'Lady Bounce' nature and is completely blanking any heckling attempts by her new neighbours haha, good to see that superiority complex is still rock solid lol!

Great news about the positive update! Yes, my cage is covered completely in perspex on three sides, it made such a difference to the amount of mess and the ventilation is still fine. I have perspex poo guards on the front. I still get fall out but it's nowhere near what it was, it's not an embarrassing amount like it was before. I still hoover every other day, especially when I top up the hay! The one downside with the perspex is that it gets covered in urine which does show up after a while, then it's a bit of a pain unscrewing it from the cage to wipe it down. We have only done it twice in 15 months since putting it on and it is waay overdue now.
