Oh jeez, that was a hard post to read I hope she finds a home for her girlie. Rambam lives a good 4-5 hours away from me I think, however I did notice that Notts Nibblers is roughly half way between us. She did mention rescues would be a no-go for her, which I completely understand. I did still mention N.N though, just cause they're awesome sauce I really want to keep pursuing rehoming Bounce personally since it's still early days, but you never know, if a while passes and both of us still have our girls, maybe somehow Notts Nibblers could bond them if we both get there? Who knows. It doesn't seem something worth suggesting right now though with neither of us wanting to go down the rescue route, at least for the moment. Hopefully we will both find homes for our little ones personally, but if not it could be a potential solution!

Thanks so much for the offer Bouncy, but we have found her the most perfect home! It's a couple who live less than an hours drive from us and have six degus already. They have two boys in an aventura, and four girls in two aventuras that they have combined into a beast of a cage! The goos are also in their own room that is kitted out just for them so they have daily free-roaming time - it's awesome! ^_^ I'm so happy!! They've done introductions before and know what they're taking on, we spent a good two hours going through everything and they were wonderful The only thing now is just testing Bounce for diabetes. I'm sure I've asked before, but can't seem to find the thread - what strips is it I need to buy? There are ketone and glucose ones and it's a bit confusing. I told them she was drinking excessively and they were fine with me wanting to know if there are any issues before she goes, just so that they don't get any surprises and can watch her diet if she is, but they seemed pretty happy even if it does come back that she has diabetes. I literally could not be happier with the people she's going to They were lovely and I genuinely had to resist the urge to hug them as we left!

I’m happy to hear the good news www.chemist.co.uk/diastix-reagent-strips-for-urinalysis-50-strips-bayer.html this are the ones you need to check for diabetes I used the same ones for coco.

Thanks DL! So it's not the keto-diastix ones? Just making sure before I order. It's just the glucose level I'm checking, right? (Clearly not done this before, haha!!)

Yes, you want to check glucose level to test for diabetes.
Checking ketone level is for testing when out-of-control diabetes may be causing another condition, diabetic ketoacidosis, that can make a diabetic very sick.

Ahh ok, that makes sense! Thanks! They've now been ordered.. as well as more than a few 'new home' toys for Bounce. All of her favourite things plus a few new ones! It's my last chance to spoil her rotten so may as well go all out

Next Sunday, so I've fast tracked deliveries so it's all here on time. She has a fluffy-ass fancy new hammock, some new hides, hay tunnel, chews, and a new replacement of her favourite house. I'm also splitting up the forage bags so she can take some with her. She already has a big bag full of stuff put together, never mind everything I've just ordered haha!

Thanks everyone! We are so pleased! She leaves this coming Sunday, until then I'm trying to simultaneously spend as much time as I can with her but also not look at her because she makes me so sad knowing she won't be with us anymore. The brain is a tricky thing sometimes, haha. The couple have said they will keep us updated and we've added each other on messenger to make that easier, plus they said we could visit any time we wanted which is so, so kind of them. I didn't take any photos, but I will next time! The set up was awesome! ^_^ I order a lot of stuff from zooplus DL, a great one is the thordis guinea pig cabin - Bounce loves it! The wood is softer than on the PaH chinchilla next boxes so she loves demolishing the little windows and turning them into spacious doorways haha. My sister gets her cat food from there so we usually combine to take advantage of the free delivery haha. Rambam they are on the FB degu rehoming page that we are on, they just don't really post. Like super secret ninja rehomers haha. I was a bit apprehensive cause if someone is interested I do a quick 'background check' on the various pages to see what other things they've posted/asked but with these guys there was pretty much nothing out there. Worked out super well in the end though! I really, really hope you find your little one an amazing home, too. It's out there! Update wise y'all know as soon as I hear anything I'm gonna be like 'GUYS GUESS WHAT' hahaha

With the dip strips, the pad isn't changing colour at all. Is that normal? I think that means she's not diabetic, but just want to make sure I've not got a dodgy batch! I've dipped four times and none of them have changed colour in the slightest.

Yes, that means there is no diabetes If you want to check the sticks are working I suppose you could dissolve a little icing sugar in water, or regular sugar in hot water and test that.

Thanks guys, Bounce tested negative for diabetes We took her to her amazing new home yesterday. I spent the morning in the play pen with her, having a little chat and feeding her treats haha. When we went her new family were very understanding and there was no rush, they let us take as long as we needed to say goodbye, and said we could visit any time we wanted. We added eachother on WhatsApp and she's already sent me some lovely pictures and updates (which I'll put a link up to!) A really wonderful thing she said was to 'just think of her as having moved to another room' It was so hard walking away from her, but she will be a billion times happier there. She will hopefully have four new friends by the end of it and will be in a double aventura, which would be amazing! And even if the worst should happen and they don't bond, she still has a whole goo room to play in and a family who can put a whole lot of time in for her. Our little lady is a very, very lucky goo! We will miss her so much, but the chance for her to be with other goos in a family who can put the time in for her is worth parting for.
