When we put Nausicaä and Toki together originally, they seemed to hit it off well. Now that Toki has warmed up to us, she turned out to be a real tweaked-out spaz. She is very sweet and charming, but very hyper compared to Nausicaä. They are starting to fight over alfalfa cubes and the water, or for our attention, and when Toki is just relaxing and doing normal degu things, Nausicaä is trying to chew her way out of the bars, which she never did before; she used to love being in her cage, just standing there watching us. Nausicaä seems to be unhappy. Is it just that her and Toki are incomatible? Or maybe Nausicaä just wants to be a loner?

fighting over food is normal, you just need to ensure they both have enough of their own. Chewing bars is normal, degu teeth continually grow, they need to chew on things to wear down the new growth. Provide wooden chews and this should discourage them. Nausicaa does have to compete for your attention now, but I am sure she is happier with another degu rather than being on her own.
