It's possible. I mean what young degu female could resist my beautiful hunky boy Dixie.

Though I'd better update as I haven't for a while.
Reggie Randy Pants is now almost as big as Dixie, but finer boned. She's coming on well and is a proper treat tramp, and I'm trying to teach her not to snatch, but she's not getting the message, lol. I still haven't fully decided about the breeding vs intro dilemma and they are still in separate cages.
She's been here well over 3 months now so at least I can be sure she didn't arrive pregnant. She's also more than happy for me to tickle her back and just above her tail through the bars.
They both chatter through the bars and she follows Dixie around, except a mealtimes, lol.

The photo doesn't really do the shine justice, it's so soft as well. Dixie has the same shine on his fur too - must be doing something right, lol.

I LOVE the shine on degu fur!! I used to just enjoy it, touching it, on our degus... and some of them had more shine than others. It is so lovely!! You are definitely doing something right!!

Great truths Reggie has learned so far this year;
When digging in the substrate, it's a good idea to check behind you for the hole down to the next level.
You cannot carry TWO hazelnuts in your mouth at the same time.
If you swallow the treats you have in your mouth, there will be room for more.
There is only so much toilet roll you can cram in you hut and still be able to get in there.
It's not a good idea to try to steal Dixie's bedding when he's kipping on it - he does notice these things.
Dixie is not a squeaky toy, when he tells you off, he means it.

OK, I've sort of made the decision to get Reggie and Dixie together, and have two groups. However, which cage do I use, or do I get a new one?
The plan is to eventually join the two cages together but this can't be done until I know they get on, then it will get separated lengthways so one group gets the top and one gets the bottom.
I'm planning a trip to b&q to price up the wood I'll need to replace and extend levels etc so they'll get extra space.

Savvy . . . am I missing something? I thought you only had Reggie and Dixie? Though I remember you looking at some younger ones . . . I think. ROFL! I'm afraid the last two months of stresses have messed with my brain a bit.
As for which cage . . . have they met face to face at all? Maybe have some face to face meets somewhere that is not their cages, and which works for you? Do you have a very large plastic storage container that you could use, that could rest on a table or somewhere that wouldn't stress your back like the bathtub would?

ROFL! Sorry, I'm thinking ahead.
I do only have Reggie and Dixie, but as Reggie is a girl and Dixie a boy, I'm planning for future pups. I have a play pen they will meet in for intros etc which isn't the problem, it's going to take time to get the cage rebuild done and at 4 years old Dixie's cage is starting to show signs of needing to be repaired/replaced in the very near future.
I've been swapping substrate and toys for a while now with positive results.

They're getting on so well through the bars etc, and poor Reggie is going demented at 'certain' times over Dixie.
But their cages need work now so I thought I'd stop procrastinating.

Think Reggie woke up hungry today, never seen a beetroot biccy disappear in two bites before, and neither bite was chewed much, lol.
Edit: there was plenty of food already in her cage that she'd spent 10 mins chowing down on.

I can sympathise, I've been feeling starving hungry this week.
Are they currently in an Aventura/Explorer each?

Yep, they're still apart with enough of a gap so he can't have her through the bars.
She was on heat last week so I don't think she's pregnant, lol.
