Lol. When I read your post I looked at the cage to make sure there was a sufficient gap.
They'll be introduced as soon as I can get the whole in the lounge floor fixed, font want them running amok under the flat, lol.

Reggie Randy Pants is currently more like Reggie the Lovelorn, lol.
She's spent most of the day chewing the bars next to Dixie's cage, but as soon as he catches her eye she hides behind her hut like a teenager with a crush!
Really MUST get these two together, lol.

Just caught Reggie and Dixie nose to nose through the bars. Dixie was playing it cool and sat on his haunches on the step below, Reggie was laging on her stomach with her tail wagging and her head stretched forward. Her whole body was lower than Dixie's, a bit like a dog in submition pose, almost expected her to roll over for a tummy tickle, lol.
No sound from either of them.
Thoughts?

I think that sounds very good!! It might be that if they were not restricted at that moment by the bars of their cages, she would have rolled over in submission! When my first three boys were fighting viciously, and we had finally come to the stage of all parties knowing and accepting their positions in the group (me being top goo of course ), the degu that had fought the hardest actually did roll over and expose his belly to the highest standing degu. He would sort of crawl up to his nose and try to groom his chin, and then he would do the fastest flip over, onto his back, and then make these little squeaky noises that were clearly pleading for return grooming. If the other turned away, he would jump up, run in front, groom the chin, and then flip again. He did this for about a week it all stopped. I assume because he was sure by that time that he was forgiven/accepted. It was some pretty serious humble pie!!

Thanks DC! I'm going to try them with only one set of bars between them tomorrow morning. Reggie in her cage with Dixie in the playpen by her cage to see how they get on. If it's all positive I'll look at getting them together without the bars, just me with a spray bottle and a colander, lol. I took the picture of Reggie just after I'd posted. Dixie had just masturbated right in front of her, lol. Not sure if she was chilled or had fainted in shock! Ps. Sorry it's on its side, flipping technology, lol!

I think it all sounds so good I think they are desperate to be together and I would just go for it. With your situation with your house and floor I would even just put one in with the other, obviously get yourself all prepared with separation equipment etc, but the signs are so positive I'm not expecting a problem. (I'm saying this as my opinion one moderator to another, rather than general advice.)
I've had another thought, well, a caveat, I would avoid trying them together when she is in heat, do it when she is nice and calm.

Reggie is just coming out of heat so I should be able to get them together at the weekend.
She has now learned a new trick. When I want to give her a treat, I call 'Reggie, show us a snoot' and she pokes her nose through the bars. She's not so daft, lol!

Tried to get pictures, but it's a bit difficult to hold the treat, hold the phone and take the pictures on my own, lol. I've gotten hold of a new playpen and got it set up for intros, www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07S1MQ5RC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've set it up sort of like a large bathtub, so I have a good view of what's going on and can intervene if I have to, but not get in their way. I've also dropped a false floor in it so they're not in contact with the lounge floor. Reggie is now out of adolescence and not currently on heat so I'm going to try them together in the playpen tomorrow. I have a hospital appointment in the morning so I'll have all afternoon. Which brings me back to a previous question: if they get on and don't want to be separated, whose cage do I let them live in while I refurb the other?

Those look really cool, and they look easy to use Savvy! I do have a wonder . . . are they tall enough to not be jumped over? Having a false floor is an excellent idea and plan as well!!
As far as if they get along really well . . . are you planning just the one meet in there, or are you looking at several meets down the road and they are really wanting to be together kind of thing? I am assuming you intend to have several successful meets. In the mean time, which of them would you say is the more defensive and crotchety about their territory? I would suggest going with the cage of the one that is more welcoming, and since you have seen Reggie flipping over and laying belly up in front of Dixie, perhaps you should go with her cage?

Reggie's cage is in much better condition than Dixie's so her cage would be a better choice. I think Dixie is more protective over his territory because he hates leaving it. Doesn't like being handled, distrusts the goo tube I use to catch him (I think he associates it with trips to the vet) and sulks for England when I have to put him in a carrier for any reason. Reggie is much more laid back, lol.
The panels are just 50cm high, but I can pick up another set of panels to build up is necessary. They are designed to clip together so you can even put panels on the top to create a cover. The floor is also made of the panels with a black plastic floor I've made from thick corrugated plastic to cover the gaps. It's all wipe able and comes apart really easily.
I think the amount of intros really depends on how they go. If there's fighting obviously it's going to take longer, if they get on, they can go together sooner. It all depends on them. I'm going to put Dixie in first on his own for a while so he can get used to being out of the cage and not sulking, lol. Then later Reggie can either go in on her own, or Dixie can join her.

Still waiting for the 2nd set of panels to come back in stock.
Dixie is being a perfect gentleman, he won't take treats until I tell him that Reggie is getting some too, and doesn't seem to mind her stealing his bedding.
I think he's going to be bossed around, lol.

After just over a year here, Reggie has settled, and Dixie seems to like her, although I suspect he puts his shaking head in his paws more often than I know, lol.
I cleaned them out at the weekend and they definitely need new trays so it's time to get the mods done as soon as I can get the new cage floors made.
Reggie had a mad ten minutes while I watched with baited breath and waited for the accident. After giving her a load of new toilet tissue bedding which in true degu style gets dragged around the cage before being crammed in her hut. This time, however, she grabbed a length and dragged it around the cage with it over her head, and completely covering her eyes! And for anyone who worries about their degus vision, she didn't bumping to anything, didn't fall off or through anything and didn't slow down! But she only did it once.

It's official! Reggie is really a cat in a degus body, lol.
She loves a scratch through the bars and sits in position to get her back and neck stroked. She warbles quite happily while I'm doing this, but chitters angrily if I stop.
Yep, definitely a cat! Lol.

I haven't updated for a while as I've been a bit busy with Dixie being poorly.
Reggie continues to love her cuddles and will now let me scratch at the side of her mouth and beneath her chin! Although just beneath her ears remains her favourite.
She now goes straight to the cuddle ledge when she wants attention.
