My degus teeth have grown a bit long and i thought that i could put a rock in her cage so that she could chew it ,but before I do that i wanted to make sure that it wouldn't be harmful to her.

Welcome to the forum You can, just give it a wash first. However long teeth should always be checked out by a vet because visible long teeth at the front are often a sign of a problem with the back teeth. Make sure your vet has a proper look at all the teeth with a scope. Are you seeing any weight loss or difficulty eating, dropping food etc?

It's worth weighing her weekly on some kitchen scales to keep a close eye on her weight. With long incisors and food dropping I would take her for a dental check in any case.

Over grown front teeth indicate a problem, usually with the molars at the back which are hard to see. An experienced vet would be able to take a look. Have you checked our vet guide? If you give us your rough location we could hopefully give you some suggestions of excellent vets.
