Can I ask your advice please?
We came down to find a few blood spots in Poppy and Ivy's cage this morning, nothing too bad but still enough to indicate a reasonable bleed, not just a pulled nail for example.
Poppy and Ivy are both around 10 year old ladies but I can't be certain of their ages.
Looking at the chins there were no obvious signs of injury, however Poppy was wet around the groin and had sand stuck to the fur in her crotch, there was also blood colouration to a degree but having looked more closely it's possible she may have got this from sitting in blood spots.
The main evidence of blood was a single patch in wheel that had then been trodden round it a bit, there was another significant patch on a marble tile used as a launch/landing pad when changing levels and additionally a couple of other spots here and there.
I've had both Poppy and Ivy out running around and having an extended play time. They've been out with me watching them for 2 hours during which time they've both behaved perfectly normally including eating, drinking, wheel use and sand bathing. Since bathing Poppy appears clean again.
She does have a small mark on her right side just behind the shoulder, I think this might be a puncture wound but she won't let me touch it. It has sand stuck to it and I think is a scab. It may just be a clog of blood in the fur I suppose but if so she hasn't groomed it off.
I'm worried that there might be something wrong due to the blood but don't want to stress them out taking them to the vet as they really seem fine. They wouldn't like it at all, they'd freak. On the other hand I don't know if there's any illnesses that are chin specific that might cause this.
I'm tempted to just observe them and see if there is any further blood or other symptoms, any ideas?
