And, of course, you can keep a nice, sensible number like six *nudge nudge*

Six from each litter that sounds good, and of course, if there's more in the second litter, you won't notice the extra ones, lol.

Well, if she only produces a small litter.........and you don't know yet how many boys and girls! If it does come to it, I would be willing to see if I can make my pair a threesome again, or even a foursome

We left sweeps to it today and went out for the day. The other 2 brain and Ella seam to be doing lots of the babysitting while sweeps is running on wheel and coming back for feeds. Do we need to weigh sweeps or should we leave it a couple of days ?

I don't think you need to weigh her . . . just keep an eye on her. Don't be shy to give her some extra calorie foods either, like oil seeds and nuts, as she will benefit from the extra nutrition. It will help her to recover and to feed the pups. She must be SOOOO happy to not be weighted down with pups anymore!!
They are so beautiful!! They are a lot of work, pups are, and I was really glad when we didn't have anymore coming, but I sure loved them. Enjoy yours! Thank you so much for the pictures. It is wonderful to join in vicariously. With all three adult goos, you will see them managing the pups very well!

As long as the cage is pup proof it should be fine, by tomorrow all of them should be running around. I'd remove the wheel so they can't get stuck underneath or behind and make sure there are no ramp or ledges they can fall from.

Only a pets at home wheel in there now all ledges are high up do I need to remove them?

I'd still remove the wheel, is there anything they can climb on to reach the ledges?
Just remember that the pups will be fully active but have zero common sense, all they want is to explore and they won't see any dangers.

I'm surprised they haven't all been out causing mayhem! You've got mum, dad, and auntie looking after them all, but a two pups per adult means they'll still struggle!!

Are you sure there aren't seven in the lovely little pile in the last photo? LOL!
As for pups that are wandering around on their lonesome. It doesn't hurt to reach in and pick the little one up to see if they feel warm or are getting chilled. Pups are unable to self-regulate their body temperature until they are four weeks of age. Until then they rely on the adults, bedding, and other pups in the pile, to help keep their bodies warm enough. If the pup is cool or chilled, you can either warm them in your hands, or shirt, or pop them back into the nest. Don't worry about handling the pups, degus don't freak out if their pups smell of humans.

Me too, but it's the smile on the face of the one facing left at the back that looks so contented.
