so far it sounds like things are going well. males are usually more difficult to bond than females, but if they were really clashing you would have seen the fights by now. if they're just sniffing and humping each other, they'll get along fine once dominance is established. rather because they've done so well together in the aquarium, you don't really have to bother with keeping mesh between them. just put them together in the aquarium for longer and longer periods, until they're grooming each other. if they groom each other, you can be pretty sure they've bonded.

Thanks. That's reassurring. My SO reintroduced them today while I was gone and they're contentedly running around the aquarium doing their thing, humping at fairly regular intervals with no violence in the least.

And yeah, they are grooming each other now too in between eating, pooping, drinking, and humping.
