In that case I am glad my 4 are all the way down stairs!! Although two seem to have developed the odd habit of sleeping in the food bowl, I cant say I have noticed snoring!

snoring, huh? that's new to me! mine are usually quiet when they sleep unless one of them has a nightmare, then it's EEP! EEP! EEP! until they realize they're not in danger.

None of mine snore, yet. we keep our pets in our bedroom for now sometimes they do make alot of noises but as far as I can tell they do not snore... I love it when we chirp with the Rats during the night. I think the Rats and Degus with be great friends!

unless one of them has a nightmare, then it's EEP! EEP! EEP! until they realize they're not in danger. I sleep with my three boys. Their cage is just two meters away from my bed, and they can go on all night with the EEP! EEP! EEP! sounds, I just don't know how to stop it. I've tried yelling(no surprise that didn't work) and even giving them each a peanut or rose hip, and they take the treat and keep on squeaking...

if they keep squeaking while they're eating, then it's not the frightened EEP! EEP!, it's the "mating" EEP! EEP!. that doesn't mean you'll have baby degus in the future, as i hear it fairly regularly with my 4 boys. what it usually means in a single-sex environment is that one of the degus was cleaning his "equipment" and got a little excited... >.>...

well I thought so too at first, but they seem scared and angry. sometimes louis Vuitton can sit and EEP for hours after he has had a boxing match with Gucci. I think perhaps he might be scared of Gucci....

I love reading these messages. lol I can't imagine having my lot in my bed room. I can hear them from my room and their in the dinning room. I'm sure one has a jake hammer( thing used for breaking up roads) Peko, also runs in her wheel for hours. And the riping sounds as they distroy the insde of the carpert tubes ( fab as very think cardboard and take some chewing). Mine sometimes sqweak, thats just when I or some thing makes them jump, most of the time they make lovley worrblings.

My degus, Tina and Tammy, sleep a metre and a half away from my bed. Only once have I awakened to their squeaking. More often than not i awake to a high pitched scratching sound. That sound is coming from them scratching on the roof of their dust bath. I don't know why they scatch on it. Are they perhaps sharpening their nails? But the weird thing is that their dust bath is made of plastic and they haven't chewed on it once.

are you sure they're scratching on the roof of it? my degus often dig around in their dustbath and end up scratching the bottom (quite an irritating noise as the dustbowl is ceramic).

Tails makes loads of noise at night mainly with his wheel...it rumbles very loud! He is in the next room to me, against the same wall as my bed is lol also when I move his wheel out when i really need to sleep, he goes on to gnawing at his wooden house...very annoying lol he never makes eep eep noises tho..when he sleeps he is silent...and very cute in his snuggle cup

The oddest noise I've heard from the degu cage is when the babies were about 4 weeks old. I was in the next room and kept hearing this odd "sawing" sound. I walked into the room to find all 8 babies lined up, shoulder-to-shoulder, chewing away madly at the edge of the wooden nest box. (If only I'd had a digital camera!) Kind of reminded me of the sound effects you hear during those school documentaries where they show ants/insects eating.
