Hello,
I’ve recently joined the forum after rehoming 2 8-month old female Degus.
We were given a standard metal pets at Home cage with the Degus. We’ve only had the Degus home with us a few days but are keen to get a bigger cage ASAP, it’s far too small for them and I’m sure they will be a lot happier when they have some more space.
Weve been looking at the Aventura, Liberta Explorer and Savic Royal cages, all of which look suitable but are quite pricey.
Has anyone used the CozyPet RC03 cage and could offer any feedback about its quality and suitability for 2 Degus? It looks very much like the other cages we were looking at but £60 cheaper.
Alternatively if if anyone could recommend any cages for around the £140 price mark it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

I would say it is large enough, you will probably want to modify the half levels to make them full levels and replace those metal ladders as they are dangerous. Degus need soooo much space! We were still modifying our cage after a year and have probably spent at least £400 (started out with a £92 cage trying to do budget). So my advice would be buy the biggest cage you can and spend the extra money- degus are very expensive pets so are a big investment anyway.

Yep it's pretty much the same as the aventura from what I've heard, people who have bought it have been happy with it but I don't know how the build quality compares to the aventura. If you wanted an aventura with 10% off you can use the discount code TY40 apparently. Where are you based? There's a member (@emdalliance) selling 3 aventuras 2nd hand right now.

Hi and welcome! You sound like you were in the exact same situation as us! We got our 2 little ones in the pets at home cage. We decided on the RC03 and it was a great buy. We read the reviews online and on amazon and ebay before purchasing. If you are going to buy this one it is cheaper on their direct website than on Ebay. We never put in the metal ladders that came with the cage, we use a trixie safe wodden ladder which they love to chew and sit on! We all have shelves and platforms so they can jump easily between levels instead . I think most cages need some sort of modification for degus and we were looking at the same ones as yourself. We have also put cardboard around the back and sides of the cage as they love to dig and send their substrate flying! So at least this helps keep most of it in the cage. The RCO3 was fairly easy and straightforward to put together, it is a lightweight metal so probably a little more flimsy than the Aventura, but no issues with our 2 so far still going strong after 3 months. Easy to wheel them about when cleaning under the cage too! My only gripe is recently they have found out how to make noises while pinging the bars, and they only ever seem to do it when i'm working from home and about to take a very important call >_<. Let me know if you have any more questions, happy to help! Emma
