Hello! I must say this playpen was a stolen idea from misscatafer (Thank you so much for your great idea!!) We bought the black correx sheets from amazon and used a heavy duty black tape to secure it all together. It worked a treat! The girls were very excited, and there was no chewing or escapes. Delilah did try furiously digging at a small gap where the rug underneath made a bump and let some light in but other than that nothing. I did buy this canvas/vinyl dust sheet to cover our rug and carpet (rental) and that worked well also, no chewing of it so far, and also easy to clean. Its heavy so I was able to use the hose of the vacuum on the poop and leftover hay bits quick wipe with a damp cloth and all good! It's super light and everything folds away nicely and has tidily fit in a gap between their cage and wall. I would like to ask if anyone could suggest what kinda other toys we could have out in the playpen? as ours looks a touch pathetic at the moment... Bonus cutie enjoying playtime pic

She certainly looks like a very happy camper.

It looks great!! Love the photos!! Love that you took Misscatafer's idea and used it as well. What better endorsement than to use the idea and be delighted with the outcome?! Well done!

Yay! So glad this is working for you! I use mine daily, still no chewing! Had one escape when we used it on a different rug and it shifted by us leaning on it so it was half on half off... But lesson learned! We have had to patch up the tape a couple of times, not from degu damage, mostly from us folding it or leaning on it too heavily when getting in or out, but that's easily done and takes less than a minute. The best thing for me is putting them in there then not having to supervise, knowing it is escape proof (if it is on the rug correctly haha)

Looks great You could try a load of cardboard boxes, and/or some branches if you can get hold of some. Flying saucer maybe?

I forgot to answer your question! I use cardboard boxes (the small ones from amazon etc) and stuff them with hay for foraging in, Aldi do some brilliantly shaped cardboard containers to make bridges and tunnels for them. I also have the same plastic tubing as you. I had a hanging basket turned on its side and stuffed with rope and toys for a while, but it has now become a permanent feature in the cage as they like it so much. Zooplus is brilliant for large wooden toys such as branches, climbing frames and seesaws.

Thanks for the suggestions, I raided the recycling and stuffed some cardboard with hay and stuff. I'll be keeping my eye out for more potential toys. I was a little worried about how difficult it would be to get them in and out of the pen as Delilah will climb onto your hands out the cage and let you move her but Luna is much more shy, nopes away from you if you try to touch her. She has timidly climbed onto my hand a couple times but I didn't want to move with her there and scare her. Luckily they're both an absolute sucker for a cardboard tube its the easiest thing in the world

That's great you are getting them tub/tube trained right from the start, you will find it so useful when needing to move /transport/weigh them or to recapture escapees! Mine are all tub trained, as soon as they see the tub in my hand they come running up to the doors, or if they are in the playpen they stop whatever they are doing and jump straight back in.

Yes the tubes have been a godsend with escapes. They're completely not scared of us now so anytime we open the cage they immediately start hanging out the bottom. You catch one and the other is off!
Just had our first escape from the playpen. Little madam Delilah scaled my back, sat on my shoulder for a second then leaped to freedom😂 This now seems to be her new favourite game and i've had to shuffle away from the edge of the pen..

They are hanging out the bottom? That's it you've lost now escapees forever that's how mine started they tag team me. You get her attention I'll jump then when she tries to get me you jump ready..... go!
