When your feeding the degus where do you put their pile of fresh foraging on the cage floor or their shelves etc

I top up the hay piles then put forage in the piles for them to dig out. I also put some in their hanging basket and will usually choose a different hidey place to put a third handful, either inside a house or a log. I don't usually sprinkle on the shelving as it is too obvious for them and can cause squabbles, whereas if I mix it in with hay it takes them a while to find so they don't notice each other

Because it is so difficult to obtain over here, I put their forage in bowls, one bowl for each on completely different levels, so there is no fighting. One bowl each for seeds. One bowl each for dried flowers and leaves. One bowl each for dandelion and other roots (if I can get them), I am now keeping these separate from the seeds as one of my little monsters would dig for his favorites and toss the rest among the bedding while digging. One bowl each for pellets.
The dried vegetables, which are easy to order, I toss across all levels in the cage, and let them search. The seed mix which is more of a treat mix (it's a bird soak-seed mix, available in pet stores, but not the healthiest assortment of seeds, so not for every day) I also toss all across the cage so they can seek them out.
They have learned that they don't have to fight over one bowl or one toss of veggies, that I spread it out so when dominant one claims the first shelf to get things tossed on it, after being rebuffed once or twice, the other one quickly runs down to the lower level where he knows he will find his share.

I have hay in bowls in the cage and some hay or forage on top a a large wooden cabin with a flat top. The rest goes on the laminate floor surface and on top of the digging box. I like to feed it in 'clean' areas where it doesn't get kicked into the substrate.
Where do you put yours, DL? Were you thinking of trying a different place?

I just dump mine across half a level of the liberta but Sherlock and Watson were never fighters when it came to food. Although now they've learnt how delicious certain things are there's been a few warning shots over treats through the cage.
With my other cage I always spread it throughout (none in pee spots) to stop any bickering because Pippin was a little **** for food hoarding and it just became a habit.

I scatter mine in a different place each day so they have to go looking for it.

It's their main feed, so I put it in big ceramic bowls. The younger ones occasionally spill food into their burrow basement, which is handy if I'm away. I've watched them go down, dig it up, and eat.

My goos always fight for any piece of tasty food but ignore the hay. My solution is to put twoo places with diferent hay and hidden inside the other forage for example flowers, herbs etc. so if they wan't the good things, they must search and eat the rest hehe
Also I hide things in the digging pit. It's funny see them "discovering" tasty food or threads

Have you tried hiding it in cardboard egg boxes?
