So when I move I will have the opportunity to finally fully combine my two double critter nations for the spoiled brats (it's in a U shape now with just the bottom level still having the side panels up (would have to take the entire cage apart to fix that and I'm lazy lol). I have figured out where I can put zip ties to hold it together (even found metal zip ties at Home Depot but they haven't even noticed the plastic ones I used months ago.
The problem is they are attacking the plastic shelves again crazily. 4"gone from last night - I have metal trays in the one cage but haven't had money to replace the other cage yet and Einstein/herc rarely went after them so it was fine until Darwin and aslan had access to the plastic. I would love to get the flower chinchilla trays again but the problem is the edge of the trays are 3" high and I'm afraid they will crash or check themselves on it - I want them to have the 6' to run full out. Flower won't send me trays that are not bolted together .... does anyone know how I could get them apart? Or any other ideas for shelves to use that are high edges so I can have decent carefresh base? Right now I made a cardboard "ramp" to go over but they pee and destroy in sometimes within an hour.
I am not willing to do it myself .... I am not a handy person and have no tools to use. Thanks!

Cover the plastic trays with a layer of board, so they can't get to the plastic? and put wood edges to hold the bedding and prevent them from chewing the board itself?
Use logs on either side of the high edge in the middle instead of your cardboard ramp. Find two that are about the right height, and put them right up against it on either side. Or rocks. Or those ramps/hides they make for reptile cages.
Or those terra cotta drainage tubes, on either side. Or a stack of tiles, glue them together into a ramp? or bricks, or.....?

If you want to send me the link, I can see how you can separate the trays easily?
