The only thing I can think of is an improvised burrito and a cotton bud. Do you have to rub the cream in, or just cover it? Obviously, taking away the sand bath will stop the ears looking like a Fab ice lolly

When we had to apply cream to Chuckie before it required two of us... One to hold him in a burito (wrap the Degu in a towel, needs to be quite tight with their arms inside so they cant wiggle out) then the other rubbed the cream on. We found it easier to create a 'v' with your fingers and place one finger each side of his head, this made it easier for us to get a better grip and made him feel more secure (Hope that makes sense). When we had finished we gave him a treat to reward his good behaviour - after doing this for a few days and he realised he would get a treat if he stayed still so he stayed a little bit stiller but unfortunately there is no way putting cream or giving a Degu medicine is going to be easy they just don't like sitting still. How long does you Degu need the cream for? We made that mistake the first time bouncy. We had just put the cream on and put him back in his cage and of course he went straight in the sand bath! 😆

I've had some good luck with using q-tips when I needed to apply food coloring to tell them apart. I would catch them in a small box with high sides and "tag" them in there. The burrito would probably be better though.

I can get mine to stay in one place with a piece of brazil nut shell that just has some brazil nut remnants stuck inside the shell. Keep a hold of the shell and let them attack it and then with your other hand dab the cream on.

moletteuk. I tried that before with Chuckie but unfortunately this didn't work for us... He decided he would giggle around like mad from side to side trying to steal the nut haha... But definitely a good idea that could work for someone else.
