Ideally, you should be looking for something with a length inside the cage of around 100cm.
If this is what you have, and there's no possibility of changing it, you have a couple of possibilities. The first (and best) is to remove it from the stand, create some kind of tray to keep the substrate in, and place it on its side so that your goos can use the long running space. The additional full levels you will need to add will depend on how many goos you have. Have a look at our cage floor space recommendations under the cages section.
Alternatively, try to arrange the transition between levels (ramps) in a spiral, so that they will have a continuous (and dizzy) run up through the cage.

No lucky I haven't bought it yet I don't want to make one of those mistakes where I buy a cage and it's not suitable! I'm going to look into other options! I haven't got the degu as I'm still preparing everything so excited though. Thanks for all the advice!

Hi degudigger45 welcome to the forum. Really happy to hear that you're doing your research before you get degus. It'll save you a heck of a lot of money I promise! Most of us got the wrong cages, the wrong feed, the wrong sex (& ended up with babies) & found out the hard way. We can totally help you avoid all these problems. If you let us know where you are we can help you find a cage, vet & maybe even degus themselves. Just so you know, degus need to be kept with a friend, you need to get 2 together minimum. They need a huge cage, much bigger than you think. They need lots of different plants (forage) & seeds, which can be expensive. Also it really helps if you can find a vet that knows about them, not all do. Have you had any other pets? Other rodents? Or will these be your first?
