Hello my name is Robert, I'm 17 and I live in Regina, Sask, Canada, I have 2 Degus. At first I start out with 2 lovely female rats, which me and my girlfriend built the cage for by hand. This cage was absolutely amazing and they fell in love with it instantly(when I get pictures I'll show you all). We were looking around for rat supplies and we came across Degus, we instantly fell in love with them. We loved how they looked, they acted, and how they sounded.
So the very next day we looked around at our local pet shops and started off with our 3 major pet stores, Petsmart, Petcetera, and Petland(guess in order do be famous you gotta have pet in the name somewhere...)
Nobody had any, so we put off the search and looked more a few days later, no more than a week later we called Petland and they had gotten a few 2-3 month old degus in during the week and than just gotten 8 young degus in not thirty minutes before I called them. I was overjoyed and we went down there right away. We decided to get 2 males that were there for a few days because the other one's were very distraught and paranoid. I was shocked and kind of worried when they got us our two "male" degus because only one person could actually tell the difference between the sexes and they had both sexes in one tank.
We got them home and put them in there temp. cage(an adult bunny cage) and now it's been a week and they're almost completely comfortable with us and with their new home. They're even talking to the rats at night now.
