I'm new. i had two degus (Lilo and Stitch, sisters) to start with, but unfortunately Lilo died two years ago. Please don't jump on me and say that I'm cruel for keeping Stitch on her own cos i know that she would probably be better off if she had another degu for company but my parents(well my mum) thinks that shes fine on her own and wont get another. i love her loads, i always take her out and play with her .
at the moment she's not well about a month ago we had to take her to the vets. we drove 2 hours to see this vet who knows alot about degus( the vet in our village doesn't really know that much about them) he told us that her teeth had got really bad (don't jump on me again, we had been to the vets before and they didn't say anything about her teeth at the time) anyway she had an operation and she was alot better until about week ago. she started to lose her balance and couldn't climb up things that she normally could. the vet said she had had a stroke. we were given antibiotics to give her on Friday but she didn't really improve that much so we took her back on Monday and she was given a steroid injection. she has improved slightly shes eating and drinking and running around the cage even if it is round and round in circles
i really do love her please don't think otherwise i know i have this habit of giving people the wrong impression
