Well last night i sexed and seperated my boys(7) felt really bad taking them from they mums but they have moved in with their dad in large chinchilla cage.( lots of sqweaks and humping going on, working out whos boss me thinks, either that more they all gay ) All ready to go and live at Avon Vallery country park with their single Degu ( going up there on the 13th) Meeting one of the members from this site on saturday to home 3 girls and she said she'd take one mum (willow) which is really kind of her. Having to watch them alot (boyfriend thinks i'm mad) so can work out which babys sleep with Willow so they are happy when they go to new home. Still have some girls living with other mum (comet) but can cope with them til i find a good home.

You are doing a great and thoughtful job re-homing your babies. The person getting Willow and three of her girls will have a contented group.
I'm loosing track though! How many will you be keeping?

Thanks I have 2 mums and a dad ( which i first thought where all boys. At first counted 16 babies but turns out only 14. 7 girls, 7 boys very even. Boys have new home Willow and 3 girls have home, so will have Comet and 4 girls, which i will try and home as group Oh plus my first set of 3, ( Him, hector and peco) keeping them. At the moment i am over run with the little hairy critter. Lots of fun though.

Hi degumagic, Willow & Co are all doing just fine. They are all great fun and have just started to get use to me and my noises around the flat, so aren't running to hide every time I enter the room now which is fantastic. Next step is to get them not to run when I put my hand in to hold them. At the moment it's been a matter of grab when they dash! I will invest in a wheel for them soon. Looking for a wheel with a solid floor so they wont catch their feet, but attaches to the side of the cage rather than one which sits on the floor. But they are all getting along fine, all healthy and happy (Also posted a mini intro, Meeting Place; Pround new owner)

as for wheels, it depends on your budget. obviously a john hopewell wheel is the best if you have a large enough cage (and wallet!), but another option is a silent spinner. they're solid plastic, but very sturdy (mine only managed to fray the edges a little bit despite their best efforts) and they attach to the side of the cage or can stay freestanding.

Yes - the John Hopewell wheels are really good, but not cheap! I feel mine was a good investment though, as the degus love it and use it all the time. It won't need replacing either as it's metal and being solid it's totally safe.
Even better, at least two of them can run on it in tandem formation, lol.
degumagic, am pleased you're finding homes. You're doing really well and you've obviously done an excellent job of looking after mums and babies.

Thanks Guys Am really happy that all my babies have found such lovely homes,
I've kept Comet (other mum and one daughter for company), as i was unware of my first litter til the next day i think MF (the daddy) may have got her pregnant before i had a chance to remove him, if so babies due about the 24 june. . I'm really hoping she doesn't have 7 like last time.
The Other 3 babies are now living in larger chinchilla cage at Colemans farm where i work, so i see them in the week and people are also learning alot about them as have made a good info poster (quoting this site) Thanks again to you all for all your advise and support

Well the story goes on
As you can see by my last message in June i wasn't sure if dad had got to Comet just after giving birth but sadly he had. (naughty man)
8 weeks ago she gave birth to another 6. all are very well. 2 boys are now living together and 4 girls are a happy group. My dining room looks like a pet shop at the mo. So again i am looking for homes. I'm willing to come over to the main land if it means they get a good home
